Common Problems We See with Cheap DTF Supplies

DTF printing can produce great results.
But only when the materials are right.

Over the years, we have tested a lot of DTF films, powders, and inks. One thing became very clear very quickly. Many of the problems printers blame on settings or presses actually come from low quality supplies.

Here are the most common issues we see when cheap DTF supplies are used.

Peeling After Pressing

Peeling is one of the most frustrating problems. The design looks fine at first, but starts lifting at the edges or peeling completely after a wash.

This usually comes from poor film coatings or low quality adhesive powder. If the bond is not strong or consistent, the transfer never truly locks into the garment.

Quality materials create a stronger bond that holds through wear and washing.

Cracking and Breaking

Cracking often shows up after the first few washes or when the garment is stretched.

Cheap powders and inks can cure too hard or too brittle. When the shirt moves, the print cannot move with it.

High quality DTF supplies stay flexible. They stretch and recover instead of breaking apart.

Poor or Dull Color

Some DTF prints look faded right off the press. Others lose color quickly over time.

This is usually caused by weak inks or films that do not properly hold and release the ink layer. The result is flat color and loss of detail.

Better inks and properly coated films produce stronger color, sharper detail, and longer lasting prints.

Inconsistent Results

One of the biggest red flags with cheap supplies is inconsistency.

A transfer might work fine one day and fail the next using the same settings. That inconsistency wastes time, materials, and money.

Quality DTF supplies perform the same way job after job. That reliability is what allows shops to scale and meet deadlines with confidence.

Why Quality Materials Matter

Cheap supplies may save money upfront, but they cost more in the long run. Reprints. Wasted garments. Lost time. Unhappy customers.

At Liberty Inks, we only offer DTF films, powders, and inks that have proven themselves in real production. We test for adhesion, flexibility, color strength, and consistency before anything earns a place on our shelves.

When quality materials are used, most DTF problems disappear.

That is not marketing.
That is experience.
